Scope and Contents
Between 1916 and 1922 and again in 1924, the Department of Tropical Research worked out of field stations in British Guiana. These included Kalacoon, the first DTR field station, in 1916 and 1917, and a field station at Kartabo, where the DTR worked from 1919 to 1922 and in 1924. In 1927, the DTR embarked on their Haiti Expedition aboard the ship the Lieutenant to study the island’s marine life. This subseries includes 239 negatives featuring images of wildlife and land and seascapes, as well as of local people and DTR staff. Please note that this subseries includes images of dead animals. This subseries has been digitized.
