From the Series:

Photographs in this series were taken by Townsend, unless noted otherwise, mostly during his expeditions on the U.S.S. Albatross from 1886-1896. Many photos are also taken by N.B. (Norman Briscor) Miller, who was a naturalist aboard the Albatross. This series also includes an album of photos Townsend took of aquariums across Europe and the United States in 1902.
