 File — Box: 1

Scope and Content

From the Fonds:

In addition to records that document the activities of Madison Grant and W. Redmond Cross as President of the New York Zoological Society, this collection includes some files created during Grant's tenure as Secretary, 1895-1925, and Chairman of the Executive Committee, 1909-1937. Additionally, the records also include some correspondence of Fairfield Osborn, reflecting his activities as Secretary from 1935 to 1940.

Among the subjects represented here are the Society's art gallery, wildlife conservation, and the Save the Redwoods League. The bulk of the records deal with endowments, insurance, and legal affairs. William Beebe is represented by a series of reports on the Arcturus and Bermuda expeditions of the Department of Tropical Research.
