Volume X. Campaign documents: Norbeck Sanctuary Bill, Bag Limit Bill, Wholesale poisoning, 1927-1930
Scope and Contents
Volume 10 continues on the subject covered in volume 9, Hornaday’s campaign to reduce both bag limits and open seasons on waterfowl. Like volume 9, it was compiled with the assistance of Edith Helen Franz, and it also contains clippings, publications, and correspondence documenting Hornaday’s so-called Bag Limit War. Additionally documented is the 1929 Migratory Bird Conservation Act, also known as the Norbeck Bill, designed to provide reserves for the protection of migratory birds. Finally, volume 10 covers the Bag Limit War’s eventual resolution (and Hornaday’s victory) in 1930 with the passage of bag limit reductions.
