Conservation Foundation films, 1948 - 1964

 Series

Scope and Contents

Established in 1948 to supplement the New York Zoological Society’s expanding conservation efforts, the Conservation Foundation funded scientific research, courses and workshops in conservation, and publications. The Foundation also produced educational films, sometimes in conjunction with NYZS. These films were created for older juvenile and adult audiences. Many of these films were released in series, and the majority focus on threats to natural resources and the need to protect them. In addition to English-language versions, some of the films were also released in Spanish and Portuguese.
