From the Series:

During his expeditions to British Guiana, between 1919 and 1922, and the Galápagos Islands in 1923, William Beebe conducted studies on the syrinx, the vocal organ of birds; he later returned to the subject in Rancho Grande, Venezuela, in 1946. This series consists of approximately 500 illustrations of syrinxes and related anatomy from these locations, with the bulk from British Guiana.
