Scope and Contents

This series includes material related to Townsend’s management of the Aquarium as well as his plans for improving the exhibits and Aquarium as a whole. The Subject Files also include material related to species and areas of conservation that he worked on, namely fur seals and Galapagos tortoises. Material in Sub-series 2D: Fur Seal Controversy relates to the aftermath of Townsend’s role as an arbitrator for the U.S. at The Hague.
