Jocelyn Crane's field studies on the behaviour and ecology of Uca marionis crabs in Australia and the Philippines taken on "the fifty-fourth, and fifty-sixth expedition of the Department of Tropical Research to the South Pacific by Jocelyn Crane, [part of] a five-year grant by the National Science Foundation for a worldwide study of Fiddler Crabs. It occupied two and a half months, and included Hawaii, Fiji, Tahiti, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Australia and the Philippines"-1955 and 1956 NYZS Annual report, p47-53 and 49-53. "Marionis, Australia, Philippines"--Original can label. "Black and White dupe crabs. first 20 feet "distant native yellow clam. SP 11 - Darwin Marionis. SP " " (high inten). SP Madaum"--Note in original can. The name Uca marionis is no longer recognized; these are likely Gelasimus excisus.
