[Department of Tropical Research activities, Bermuda, part II], circa 1928-1929
Scope and Contents
Footage from the Department of Tropical Research work in Bermuda. Some shots are similar to Pathe's Beebe footage, but there are additional shots. Based on the black edges, this reel looks to be 16mm footage shot with a home movie camera, not a reduction print from 35mm nitrate negative. Presumed to be shot by Elswyth Thane. Staff and researchers are shown observing and documenting sea life outside and inside the buildings adapted for the DTR's laboratories. The motorboat Skink departs from dock. More views of Bermuda islands from water. A panning shot from island showing the tugboat Gladisfen. Beebe and crew drop a net from boat. Staff walks to buildings on Nonsuch for more lab work.
